Welcome to Kampout Fresno!

2017 theme: Safari!

Kampout Fresno was established in 1980 in the Central Valley!

It is and always has been designed to allow for a large social gathering for the LGBT community. Away from the city, we can cut loose and let our hair down in a fun, safe, and friendly environment.

Kampout Fresno was started by the Imperial Dove Court de Fresno / Madera, Inc.; it was passed on to the Kampout Committee in 2006.

2017 dates: 9/8 thru 9/10

About Us

What is Kampout Fresno?
Kampout Fresno is an annual event in the Central Valley Gay and Lesbian community.

When is Kampout Fresno?
It's always the weekend after Labor Day.

Where is Kampout Fresno?
At Texas Flat Campground. It is a little rough to get to, but well worth the 90 minute journey from Fresno. The road is manageable, and large RV's often make the trek. At an elevation of 5,400 feet, the air is clean and crisp. We reserve the entire area alongside McGilvery Creek, so you can enjoy camping underneath a canopy of tall trees with 100 or more of your closest friends! The area is very large, so you can find privacy and solitude if you like.

What is the atmosphere like?
Most of our Kampers have been here many times, and look forward all year to the next Kampout. Fond memories are forever with us, and many new ones will be made this year. Many a great friendship has been made here as well. Everyone is friendly, no cliques or snobs. It sounds cliche, but it really is a family of friends, some of them you just haven't met yet.

What is the theme?
The Kampout has a different theme each year.

Who runs Kampout Fresno?
We are run by a group of individuals who are dedicated to making Kampout a huge success, with no single person in charge.

Kampout Fresno operates this activity under a U.S. Forest Service special use permit in the Sierra National Forest.

In accordance with Federal law and U.S. Department of Agriculture policy, Kampout Fresno is prohibited from discriminating on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability. (Not all prohibited bases apply to all programs.) To file a complaint of discrimination: write USDA, Director, Office of Civil Rights, Room 326-W, Whitten Building, 1400 Independence Ave, SW, Washington DC 20250-9410 or call (202) 720-5964 (voice and TDD). USDA is an equal opportunity provider and employer.

What is "Yacht Regatta"?

What is "Kampstravaganza"?
This annual Saturday Night Show is for anyone who wants to perform, sing, do comedy, anything! Kamp King and Kamp Queen are judged by audience reaction. All awards for all games are given during Kampstravaganza.

What are "Kamptown Races"?
They're kind of like "field day" in grammar school and have included (subject to change): Drag Races, Ring Toss, Musical Bar Stools, etc.

What is "Needle in the Haystack"?
Three cleverly hidden items are hidden within Kamp. Clues are given as to their whereabouts, with more clues added over time. Clues will be updated and posted in all Kampfire areas.

How do I get to the site of Kampout Fresno?
1. From Fresno, take Highway 41 north.
2. Continue through and past Oakhurst, past Bass Lake Rd.
3. Turn east (right) at the Sky Ranch billboard (Forest Rd 632, which becomes Road 10).
4. Continue through the residential area.
5. The road will become VERY curvy. Keep going, you'll see the pink "K" signs.
6. Turn right at turnoff for Soquel (a.k.a. Rd 6S40 - 8.2 miles).
7. Go past Soquel Campground.
8. Turn left onto Rd 6S08 to Texas Flat.

For directions from other locations, get to Highway 41 & Forest Rd 632 north of Oakhurst, and follow from step 3.

We will have BRIGHT PINK "K" signs at every place you need to make a choice starting on Hwy 41 at Sky Ranch Road, so we will lead you in. Sometimes during the weekend the signs may be missing, so DO follow the map first and be careful!

Or click here for National Forest Service's map of the area.

DO NOT rely solely on your GPS as it may direct you to the wrong Texas Flats. Also you will lose celluar reception.

The entire weekend costs just $30 for EVERY person, REGARDLESS of age, title or position. This is a flat fee, whether you stay 1 day or the entire weekend! This simply reimburses those that organize the weekend for you.

This entitles you to:
a Kampsite, 2 Beer Busts, 1 Dinner, 2 Breakfasts, Palace Punch, Progressive Kocktail Party, ALL activities, the show & contests!

Toilets & Showers
There are vault toilets in the Kampground. Toilet paper will be provided. Many people bring their own toilet and paper, but for personal use, so plan accordingly or use the vault toilets. There are no showers on site.

Usually cool in the morning, warm in the afternoon, and COLD at night. There will be a fire at the main sites. For your own sites, firewood is not provided, but there is usually enough debris around Kamp to gather. It rarely rains, but it is September, and it can happen. Be prepared!
Click here for 7-day forecast for the area.

We are wary, but we do allow pets. THEY MUST BE ON A LEASH AND IN YOUR CONTROL AT ALL TIMES! If they are the slightest bit aggressive or bark a lot, LEAVE THEM AT HOME! You will be asked to take your pet home immediately, if your pet is found to be a nuisance or a danger to others!

Kampout is clearly an adult event. No persons under the age of 18 are allowed at Kampout! NO EXCEPTIONS! No person under 21 shall consume alcoholic beverages. IDs will be checked at the gate!

What to bring
Every Kamper must provide their own accommodations (tent, trailer, RV, camper, etc.) RV's and trailers are allowed, but space is limited and is on a "first-come, first-served" basis. Bring: food (except for meals mentioned earlier), drinking water (the creek water is not drinkable), WARM bedding (it can get pretty cold at night), flashlight, lanterns (it is very dark at night and trails are not lit), BYOB and plenty of ice. There is not a store nearby, and other people did not bring your booze!

General Rules
No fighting or provoking fights! No racial slurs! Absolutely NO underage drinking! No contributing to underage drinking! If you drink at Kampout, sleep it off before heading down the hill. If you absolutely cannot spend the night, please be responsible or don't drink! Obey the posted speed limits in camp (5 MPH)! Do not engage in sexual acts in public or common areas! Do not bring any drugs - the use of drugs will result in immediate dismissal! Fees will NOT be reimbursed if you are asked to leave or if you choose to leave early!
