Frequently Asked Questions

A newbies guide to Kampout

BRING YOUR ID!!!!!!

All ID's WILL be checked at check-in, if you do not have a valid ID that says you are 21+, you will be given an under age wristband, and will not be served alcoholic beverages.

     Cost:

The entire weekend costs just $25 for EVERY person, REGARDLESS of  age, title,or position. This entitles you to a Kampsite, 2 beer busts, one dinner, one brunch, one breakfast, J&G Super Juice, Progressive Kocktail Party, and ALL activities and contests. The price for Kampout is the same regardless of how long or how short your stay is, as the activities provided are well worth the admission price.

Presale Tickets are available at

The Red Lantern and The Den

The price is the same, but purchasing a presale ticket will enter

you into a drawing for a free

Kampout 2008 Tropical Paradise theme flag.

        Toilets:

There are vault toilets (Porta-Potties) on the trail, and toilet paper will be provided.  Many people bring their own toilets and paper, but for personal use, so plan on going behind a tree, in a bush, or using the porta potties.

Parking:

Most of the kampsites allow you to park right next to, or very close to, your tent.  In some of the lower sites, you may have to park in a designated area, but that is still very close to where you would set up, so your vehicle is always accessible.  Loading and unloading is easy in any case.

Motorcycles are not allowed in the Texas Flat Campground.

RV's

RV's and tent trailers are allowed, but there is limited space in the main kampsites, so they are on a first come/first serve basis.  There is plenty of room in the lower sites, and everything is still well within walking distance.  There are NO RV hookups at Texas Flat.

Please do not use generators after 10pm or before 8am.

Climate:

Usually cool in the morning, warm in the afternoon, and COLD at night.

BRING A JACKET AND WARM CLOTHING!!!!

There is usually a fire in the evenings at the 4 main sites, but you may have to build it.  Firewood is not provided, but there is usually enough debris around Kamp to gather.   Fires are not permitted ANYWHERE else.  You cannot build your own pit (Hey Netta, you reading this?) for safety  reasons.

It rarely rains, but it is September, and it can happen. Be prepared.

We recommend "buddy warming" on extra cold nights.

Pets:

We are wary and discourage pets, but we do allow it.

BUT THEY MUST BE ON A MAXIMUM 10 FOOT LEASH AND IN YOUR CONTROL AT ALL TIMES!!!

There have been instances in the past of dogs biting, and we cannot allow this to happen again.

If they are the slightest bit aggressive, LEAVE THEM AT HOME.  The length of the leash must not exceed the perimeter of your site.  If this strict rule is not adhered to, you will be asked to take pet home immediately.

There will be NO exceptions.

Children:

Kampout is clearly an adult event

We STRONGLY DISCOURAGE children,

due to alcohol consumption, adult language, and adult behavior.

No child under 21 shall consume alcoholic beverages.  Again, we WILL be checking ID's.  Children under the age of 16 must remain with you at all times.  Leaving them in the tent or at your camp alone is unacceptable.

Noncompliance will result in immediate dismissal from Kampout.

If you do bring a child, you must sign a waiver and promise of full responsibility.  All children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who can sign the waiver of responsibility for them.

First Aid:

While there is not an official first aid station, there are several health professionals at Kampout, who  will assist you if the need arises.  You should have a simple first aid kit, and bring all of your regular medications.

WHAT TO BRING: Essentials:

Every Kamper must provide their own:

Accommodations

(tent, trailer, RV, camper, warm bedding, etc.)  Unless you plan on shacking up with someone else??? There are no cabins or hotels here.

Food

(except for meals mentioned earlier) you must provide all your meals, as there is no room service or drive-thru's.  You must prepare your own meals as well, so bring something to cook and serve it on.

Flashlight and Lantern:

The only lights at Kampout are the ones we bring.  The trails are not lit, and it is DARK on the trails at night.  You might want to bring a lantern also, to light up your site.

Drinking water

(the creek water is not drinkable).  Bring A LOT.

Keep in mind it's not just for drinking....

we hope you also plan on washing up and brushing your teeth.

WARM bedding:

(it can get pretty cold at night).  Bring more than you would normally take camping.  Even though it may be hot in Fresno, it really does get cold here at night.  A sleeping bag alone is sometimes not enough.

Chairs, tables:

Chairs are not provided, and unless you can find a lap to sit in, you will be sitting on the ground.  The Main site has several tables with benches, but almost none of the individual sites have tables.  It's hard to prepare a meal on the ground.

BYOB.  And plenty of ice.

There is not a store nearby, and other people did not bring your booze!!!!!

Bring whatever else you plan on drinking... sodas, juice, mixers, etc.
