Kampout occurs every year on the first Friday after Labor Day Weekend.

The Kampout event costs only $60 per person.

You must be 21 years or older to attend Kampout.

Although we highly discourage bringing your pets, we do allow well-behaved pets. Pet owners MUST be responsible. The Kampout Committee reserves the right to ask you to remove your pet from the premises if any of the following is observed:

  1. Pet is aggressive to other animals or people.
  2. Owner does not maintain control of pet by keeping pet on a leash, secure, or kenneled as is necessary.
  3. Pet becomes a nuisance (constant barking, jumping on people, etc.)
  4. Owner does not clean up after pet.

Please be mindful that this is a wilderness setting and there is no secured fencing to prevent your pet from wandering off or protect your pet from any wildlife that may wander into camp. The Kampout Committee will not assume liability for any injury to your pet.

Yes and yes! Kampout provides porta potties that are distributed throughout the property. We also offer private, hot showers for a one-time fee of $10.00 for the duration of the event. There is a weir on the property but water levels vary. Cold water creeks that flow into the weir and can provide opportunities for swimming and refreshing.

Please plan ahead to ensure you arrive at Kampout with the following:

  • CASH (there is no cellular reception at the property for electronic payments)
  • Medications (insulin, albuterol, epi-pens, etc. if YOU need them)
  • Food, drinks, ice
  • Tent, sleeping bag, pillow
  • Warm clothing (the overnight lows can dip into the 30s-40s)
  • Shorts, sunscreen, bug spray
  • Camping/portable chair
  • Water shoes
  • Towels and blankets
  • Flashlight and extra batteries
  • Personal care and hygiene products
  • Trash bags (this is a 'pack it in, pack it out' primitive camping event)
  • In-theme campsite decorations and costumes! (entirely optional but highly encouraged)

The Kampout Committee will host a large main fire pit for all campers to utilize and enjoy.  If permitted, the Kampout Committee may allow individuals to utilize a private fire pit at their personal campsites so long as the following rules are adhered to:

  1. Only above ground propane fire pits are permitted. No wood, fire log, or pellet-fueled fire pits allowed.
  2. Kampers must have a 5-gallon bucket of water near their fire pit at all times in case of an emergency.
  3. Fire pits must be located away from trees and brush.
  4. Fire pits shall NEVER be left unattended.

Portable BBQ grills and stoves are allowed, provided they are fueled by propane or charcoal briquets ONLY. Wood and pellet-fueled devices of any kind are not allowed. Used charcoal must be extinguished and disposed of in the main fire pit; do not dispose of used coals anywhere else on the property.

Due to the increased danger of wildfires, the Kampout Committee may modify the fire pit and BBQ grill rules as necessary.

Kampout provides 2 breakfasts and 2 dinners. It is your responsibility to bring any other food you may need including, snacks, water, alcohol, lunch, dinner, etc. Kampout also provides 1 progressive cocktail event and 2 beer busts. Please read "What do I NEED to bring?" for more information.

Kampout is located in the Sierra National Forest at an elevation of 5500 feet. We have had flash storms come through and provide us with rain, thunder and lightning. This is not normal for the weekend of Kampout. When this does occur, it is usually brief with the sun coming back out within a few hours. We encourage all Kampers to pack and prepare for inclement weather. Cover tents or bring a tarp to cover your belongings. A poncho and rain coat is recommended.
